SANY Heavy Industry signed an agreement on August 19, 2026, to establish its Global Mining Excavator R&D and Production Center in the Lingang New Area of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone. The project represents a strategic move to capture fast-growing global demand for 100-ton to 1,000-ton class mining excavators, a market segment long dominated by international giants such as Hitachi, Komatsu, Caterpillar and Liebherr.

The center will focus on green, smart, and high-efficiency technologies, with key breakthroughs planned in high-efficiency energy-saving hydraulic systems, high-strength long-life structural components, and intelligent unmanned excavation. Upon full operation, the facility is expected to produce over 1,000 mining excavators annually, generating industrial output exceeding RMB 5 billion and creating nearly 1,000 quality jobs while driving the development of supporting industries.

SANY's relationship with Lingang spans 17 years. The company's existing Lingang excavator base has grown from a 1,500-mu facility into a 250,000-square-meter super factory producing about 40,000 excavators annually, recognized as one of the world's most comprehensive and highly automated excavator production facilities. The new center will leverage Lingang's preferential trade policies and proximity to Yangshan Deep-Water Port to deliver green, intelligent integrated mining solutions to global customers, advancing SANY's transition from product exports to technology transfer, brand globalization, and complete solution delivery.

SANY Group Chairman Xiang Wenbo stated that the project will strengthen Lingang's high-end equipment industrial cluster and help Chinese mining equipment brands break through foreign technological barriers.
